Home Survey FAQs
The duration of a home survey varies depending on the size and condition of the property, as well as the type of survey chosen. A Level 2 survey might take a couple of hours, while a Level 3 survey could take a whole day or more to complete. The surveyor’s report is typically delivered within a few days to a week after the survey, providing a comprehensive overview of the property’s condition.
If the survey reveals problems, consider the severity and cost of the issues identified. You can use this information to renegotiate the purchase price, ask the seller to make repairs before completion, or decide if you’re willing to take on the responsibility and cost of addressing these issues. It’s also wise to consult with your surveyor or a specialist for advice on the best course of action.
While getting a home survey isn’t compulsory, it’s highly recommended. Purchasing a property is a significant investment, and a home survey provides a detailed report on the condition of the property, ensuring there are no hidden surprises. It offers peace of mind by highlighting any potential issues that could affect the property’s value or lead to significant expenses in the future.
