Drone survey inspections
Hovering over every detail to elevate your home survey.
Get an elevated perspective with a drone survey
Our trusted surveyors have spent years delivering RICS Level 2 and Level 3 surveys across a wide range of properties.
Now, you can get an even clearer picture with a drone survey inspection.
Our drone inspections are an optional add-on to our RICS Home Surveys. They allow us to capture, analyse and interpret high-resolution images of roofs and hard-to-access areas.
It means we’re even more equipped to identify potential issues such as water pooling, invasive moss, damaged felt or chimney and guttering defects.
So, you can rest assured of the condition and value of the property you’re hoping to purchase.
How our drone survey inspections work
Here’s how it works. Our drone inspections are an optional add-on to our RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys. We highly recommend drone surveys, as they provide a more complete picture of the property’s condition.
Using the drone, the surveyor takes high-quality stills of the roof and any other elevated areas that aren’t visible from the ground. They’ll then closely examine these images and incorporate them (and their findings) into your survey report.
Our CAA-licensed surveyors use approved drones and flight planning apps to ensure every inspection is safe, legal and adds genuine value to your RICS home survey.
It’s all about giving you a more complete picture of the property you’re thinking of purchasing, minimising risk and maximising your peace of mind.
Drones give our surveyors an elevated perspective and reveal defects that traditional methods could easily miss, including:
- Water pooling on flat roofs
- Damaged or missing roof tiles/slates
- Invasive moss or vegetation growth
- Cracked or deteriorating chimney stacks
- Damaged flashing or roof felt
- Blocked or broken guttering
- Parapet wall defects
- Wear and tear on unusual or hard-to-access roofs
- Inspection of valley roofs and hidden channels
- Structural movement or sagging rooflines
- General wear to roof coverings not visible from the ground
Drone survey inspections benefits
A drone survey gives you a far clearer, more detailed picture of high-up areas or places inaccessible from the ground. Combined with expert interpretation from an experienced surveyor, you’ll know the property even better than the current owner. However, the benefits of a drone survey go further:
Uncovers hidden issues:
Your roof is essential for keeping the elements out. Drone surveys uncover potentially severe issues like pooling water or broken chimney stacks.
Time-efficient:
Drones are fast to set up, deploy and return, reducing the time needed to complete your survey while gathering even more detailed insights.
Ideal for unusual roofs:
Drone surveys are fantastic for inspecting complex or unusual structures, like parapets or valley roofs.
Safe and non-invasive:
There’s no need for scaffolding or getting the current owner to move things around; drones allow for safe surveys without disturbing the home.
Expert analysis:
Our surveyors pore over the images to interpret them. They’ll highlight any areas of concern in your survey report and explain their reasoning.
Supports informed decisions:
The more detail you have, the fewer surprises will emerge after you buy. Since buying a home is a significant investment, the more you know, the better.
